Are Nepali film posters sabotaging themselves?

Nepali film posters are rather traditional. Their use of strong and violent colors like Red, Orange, and Yellow, and strong Blue tones is reminiscent of the Bollywood film posters of the 1970's and 80's. While the Indian film Industry has moved on to more sensible and restrained color palette, the Nepali industry has taken backward steps on this issue.

Are Nepali film posters creating an unfavorable image of Nepali film industry amongst the prospective viewers, or do they truly reflect where the industry is? Why do the producers decide to go for blatant and at-your-face advertising of films, instead of a more subtle advertising? We will try to answer such questions by looking at about four dozen poster of Nepali films from the last few years. All the photos are a part of the speaker's two year-old project for which he has been taking photos of Nepali film posters.
